There's a time that comes, after it's all said and done,
Your thoughts, they will tend to look back...
And what I remember, is a night in December,
First meeting a girl who loves cats.
A pretty young girl, who carried the world,
All alone with just her cats...
But what she gave to me, then I couldn't see,
Now becomes clear, when I look back.
So what follows below, and this I should know,
The impact she made in my life...
It's to this I confess, as I'd truly been blessed,
When this girl became my wife.
I have looked in her eyes, as blue as the sky,
And saw the pain she held inside...
And wherever I'll be, it still gets to me,
As I know the moment she cries.
And I have traced the steps, without regret,
Along the paths we walked...
And hearing the breeze, and the rustling leaves,
I'm reminded of times we talked.
Lying flat on my back, in a sea of grass,
My thoughts will begin to stir...
And in the sunlight, when I look just right,
What appears is an image of her.
And through days without end, I walk with my friend,
Her memories I'll always embrace,
Then stare in a stream, in my field of dreams,
Only to see her face.
And it's from time to time, I go in my mind,
To this place I always can see...
Where it's quiet and calm, with peace that surrounds
I'm together with my friend...just her and me.
As the years go past, I'll never loosen my grasp,
On the times I shared with my friend...
For it's the girl who loves cats,
I will always remember...forever and to the end.
