Who would give an adult the right to hit a child?
Why are violence charges not filed?

How much suffering can a child sustain?
And it wasn't even the guardians that cause all the pain.

The man responsible said the child needed to be hit,
all because she was throwing a fit.

What is with all the cuts and bruises?
Is this how the adult gets his amuses?

Where is the law that says the child can be hit in such a manner,
just because the adult cannot hold his anger?

Oh, the police came and the police did go.
Were there any charges filed? Dear me, No!

What would it take for justice to be served?
Makes me mad when the child is told she got what she deserved.

Thankfully, no bones were broken and the child is healing okay,
But with these words that I now pray…

No matter what the child may say or do,
children must be protected, that much is true!
