Dear Lord,

So innocently in my arms
You placed a baby boy
With the rosiest cheeks
And soft dark hair

Dear Lord,

On his fourth birthday
He asked for a kite
And with your wind he played
On your grass he did run

Dear Lord,

He went to school today
I cried far more than him
So strong, a young man
And the bible's blessing in his hand

Dear Lord,

He fell and broke his arm today
But softly spoke a prayer
He convinced me that he'd be all right
'Cause you're right next to him

Dear Lord,

My boy graduates today
So proud I am of him
Looking at those same rosy cheeks
Those same dark eyes

Dear Lord,

Down the isle he walks today
His eyes so bright and shiny
So much he still needs to learn
So much that he taught me

Dear Lord,

I may go today
On my sons' path I held guard

Dear Lord,

I still trust you with him
To love him just like me
