Quiet Sanctity
8 X 10
$710.00

This painting is very special to me.  It was inspired by the poem "High Flight", written by Pilot Officer, John Gillespie MaGee, Jr., who lost his life in combat while flying his Spitfire fighter plane over the English Channel in WWII.  Some see the area below the mountains as a sea; pilots know better.  Here we see ourselves above a layer of clouds lighted by a full moon, rugged mountains peeking through.  This is what it looks like after you've slipped the "surly bonds of earth..to reach out and touch the face of God."
